black beetle - Plateumaris

black beetle - Plateumaris
Wolcott, Lamoile County, Vermont, USA
June 14, 2006
Size: ~10mm

Don, I support your opinion
. . . this one is definitely a Plateumaris sp..

cheers, Boris

Chrysomelidae: Donaciinae: Plateumaris sp.
I think this one took a wrong turn from the river to end up on these flowers. You must have been very close to a river. Note the round eyes, rather than deeply emarginate/indented eyes typical of bycids.

longhorn wanna be
Yes this was in a grassy area right next to the Lamoile River.

Some of the "Donacia"
identified images look like Plateumaris to me (1-2 of your own), but this problem isn't very inspiring to me.

Just went back and checked the comments under the "Donacia" pictures. I would say that about half are Plateumaris, but there are definite Donacia mixed with them. I will put this on my list of things to do for the (distant) future.
