A very choice find here - Aztecacris gloriosus
As far as I know, none of these has been reported as found in several decades.
I've been meaning to come look for them, but never seem to be able to work out the logistics for another trip at the right time. Some believed them extinct after drought in the '40's, but that's usually a ridiculous assumption in country like se. Arizona, where not finding is more often an issue of a new generation of people not knowing where to look.
A real beauty!
I think they are probably very closely related to
Dactylotum
, and perhaps
Poecilotettix
and
Hesperotettix
.
