Dogbane Beetle - Chrysochus auratus

Dogbane Beetle - Chrysochus auratus
Fort Meade, Ann Arundel County, Maryland, USA
June 17, 2006
Size: 5/16 inch
Please help confirm identity of this beetle, found on a field trail near the edge of a woodlot. I think it's a Dogbane Beetle (Chrysochus auratus), based on identification from Peterson's Guide to Insects.

We lightened and cropped this
we'll move it back to ID request and if David and Jim like this image, we'll move it to the guide.

Ditto here.
Great effort. I hate to frass stuff, especially for newcomers.

Looks good to me. The original photo was unedited and uncropped, taken in the shade at the time. Thanks for the effort.

David Koscinch

Chrysochus auratus
Dogbane Beetle in all likelihood, but the photo is a tad dark to be certain and should not go into the guide. Moved to frass.
