Fall Field Cricket - Gryllus firmus - female

Fall Field Cricket - Gryllus firmus - Female
Atco, Camden County, New Jersey, USA
October 1, 2011
Size: 20mm?

Based on (?) sand habitat, and long ovipositor,
I think this is probably actually G. firmus. The distinction between the two "species" is based on habitat preference and behavioral isolation from one another, but they do hybridize, and they can be very hard to tell apart. I think I'm correct, but sometimes I think the difference may be a bit arbitrary.

Moved from Fall Field Cricket.
