Moved from Hydrocanthus oblongus.

Tom sent me a recently collected female. I compared her with several series of H. oblongus I have from Florida. My initial ID was incorrect. Sorry for the confusion.

Hydrocanthus oblongus
Brady thanks for the species ID. These were common in one area of the swamp, with a couple dozen caught in one net sweep through the water.

H. oblongus
Has this species been reported so far north? Young's papers on Hydrocanthus indicate this coastal species only occurs from Texas to South Carolina. (1)

Ciegler (2003) lists New Jers
Ciegler (2003) lists New Jersey in the distribution for this species. I think I've seen other records, but can't recall what I looked at when I placed the name on this image. I remember thinking that Massachusetts was a pretty far north. I'll try to reconstruct my thoughts.

more records
Stepping into this late - just perusing records of this species on the web - but we have three collection locations within Iowa (East central and SW)
