viceroy? - Limenitis archippus

viceroy? - Limenitis archippus
New Port Richey, Pasco County, Florida, USA
September 1, 2011
I was certain this was a Viceroy Butterfly until I noticed that there is white dots that run alone side the black stripe in the hind wing. I don’t see pictures of others like this. Am I missing something?

thanks
Good show Ron, I think you are on to something. I am amazed by your knowledge base there
Sam

Looks a bit like "obsoleta", but a different subspecies
Like var obsoleta, this one (var. floridensis) is probably more of a Queen mimic than a Monarch mimic.

Moved from ID Request.

Please see...
...images of Limenitis archippus obsoleta. I think it is odd to find one in Florida from what I have read about this species. Let's see what the experts have to say about this.
