Found on my back door this afternoon. ID appreciated if possible, even which Family if genus/species is not possible from this photo.

Male of Inopus rubriceps, an Australian invasive introduced 50+ years ago into the San Francisco area. Feeds on grasses. For the female, see http://bugguide.net/node/view/164964

Not asilidae
This is not a robber fly (no sunken vertex, for one thing). I'd call it a Rhagionidae, but I've never seen one with thick antennae like that.
