March fly on goldenrod - Dilophus - female

March fly on goldenrod - Dilophus - Female
Cape May Point, Cape May County, New Jersey, USA
October 5, 2011
The weather was cold and rainy and then we had a good day at Cape May. The seaside goldenrods were loaded with flower visitors, at least 28 species. The most numerous one was Eristalis dimidiata.
It was so windy that I couldn't get a decent image of this fly. Maybe it can be IDed to species before frassing.

stigmaterus or spinipes
The long head probably makes this Dilophus stigmaterus or D. spinipes depending on how many rows of spines are on the front leg.
