Brachinus lateralis Dejean --det. T.L. Erwin
Moved from Bombardier Beetle.

I had wrong location,
had Arizona and it should have been Arkanas, I made corrections hope this doesn't change diagnosis

Current name likely needs change to fit geography.
Although images superficially fit Brachinus lateralis, that species is known only from AZ, CA, NV according to Bousquet & Larochelle (1993). Either this specimen represents a tremendous range extension to AR or another name is needed. I defer to the opinion of Terry Erwin.

Terry Erwin's update/correction:
"Ok, no problem, V, the eastern 'brown' Brachinus is B. adustipennis Erwin"

Location error
Terry probably saw it when it said Arizona, but Gary has corrected it to Arkansas. Sounds like the correct location would lead to a different species.

Thanks
for bypassing my wordiness and getting to the crux.

sure; looks sharp, too -- hopefully, a distinctive sp.
most are a pain to tell apart, though

Moved from Ground Beetles.
