clam shrimp?

clam shrimp?
Dekalb County, Georgia, USA
July 30, 2009
Size: 3mm ish
These appear in temporary pools on top of Stone Mountain in the summer. I think the assumption is that birds carried them there originally and they survive as eggs when the pools dry up (which is the vast majority of the year).
I don't know where to put them in the guide.

Maybe you can tag the images
Maybe you can tag the images and move them here:

That will put them in the Branchiopoda Class.

From what I can tell, there are 3 Orders of clam shrimp:

Cyclestherida, Laevicaudata, and Spinicaudata. Of those three Orders, only Laevicaudata is listed on Bug Guide.

I don't know which Order yours belongs in, but if you know the species name, you can probably get someone here at Bug Guide to make a section for it.

Anyway, that's what I would do.

Thanks Bill
Will do.
