Hey,

I had three different mantises in my backyard the week this one was taken. Heh, one actually fell on me while I was smoking in the backyard and that's how I noticed it. One looked like this guy with the fatter abdomen and purple eyes. The other two were smaller and green with green eyes, my mother has my camera right now so I haven't been able to upload those images yet. If you know, could you please share what kind of mantis this is?

Stagmomantis limbata
In this picture a blue lip can be seen.

I'm pretty sure that Iris is correct

thank you all
I appreciate the ID very much.

Mantids
This is a tough one. This insect is a final instar female nymph; she'll be an adult with the next molt. The body dimensions say Stagmomantis, but this may be Iris oratoria. I can't see the identifying marks to be sure.
