wasp - Hoplocryptus notatus - female

wasp - Hoplocryptus notatus - Female
Cross Plains, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
October 10, 2011
A number of different wasps have been hanging out near a dish of sugar water and fruit that I have out for them (and for the occasional moth). Mostly Yellow Jackets, Bald-faced Hornets and spider wasps feed but these Ichneumons have been around for a few days, too. This wasp seemed very interested in this stem for some reason as it kept walking up and down the stem.
