Lophocampa maculata - Development Sequence and observations - Lophocampa maculata - Elkton, Douglas County, Oregon, USA July 6, 2011
Shotguneddie gave me the courage and many pointers to raise caterpillars. Ken Strothkamp's work on Lophocampa maculata inspired me to try maculata cats. The following are the events of that adventure . . . as perceived by a novice.
Thanks, Edna and Ken. I hope you will chime in.
(Each cat was photographed every day at least once. I have over 500 macro images of these cats (4288x2848 pixels). Individual enlargements/closeups can be added, if needed. The cats are quite beautiful at 100% - when the light wraps them just right, their red, orange and yellow setae seem to glow.)
