palmcomber and hand-warmer - Pardosa lapidicina - male

palmcomber and hand-warmer - Pardosa lapidicina - Male
Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
August 14, 2004
Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hand. I got tired chasing this wolf spider. It nearly escaped twice. So I had it climb onto my hand where it eventually settled in my palm, just long enough for me to take its picture. Restive. 7mm long. Females similar. Habitat: beach stones. Diurnal. Locally common.

Identity?
Tom, can you give some more support for your choice of Pardosa here? Jeff Hollenbeck feels this is not Pardosa. Can you help with the separation and identification of the genera?

I agree with him
Possible Arctosa otherwise I dont know where to place it.
