Magicicada septendecula - female

Magicicada septendecula - Female
Hedgesville, Berkley County, West Virginia, USA
June 7, 2004
M. septendecula female. You can distinguish this species from M. cassini by the subtle orange striping on the sternites. Sorry for the poor quality image but it is clear enough to see the orange. It is really quite subtle. Despite this the calling song of M. septendecula and M. cassini are quite different from each other.
