Araneus pegnia - male

Araneus pegnia - Male
Sarasota, Sarasota County, Florida, USA

Size: 3mm
Seek and you shall find. I was lucky to find this guy so quickly. We must live in a haven for this species and it must be the right time of year. I've seen 3 females and now this 1 male in just a couple outings of spider seeking. He was found at night, suspended at eye-level (about 5.5ft) on a thread near the front edge of an ixora hedge. In the cup I also found a dead gnat that I suspect he was eating at the time I caught him.

Outstanding!
You are the king of the pegnia! This is an excellent addition to the guide. We don't know if others would like images from different perspectives, but hopefully they will tell you. We are very happy with these. Thank you much. If you find other males, be sure to add a couple of pictures of them to the guide, so we see some of the variation in color pattern. Thanks again,

LOL. Thanks John and Jane.
LOL. Thanks John and Jane. I'm glad I could contribute something back for all the ID help I've received.
