I spend most of my time in northern NJ where I live. I am not very familiar with species in the southern part of the state. This was taken in the center of the Outer Coastal Plain area of the state in the Pine Barrens. I know Violet Dancer is common throughout the state, could it be a female Violet Dancer?

Looks more like Argia tibialis to us
The black shoulder stripe is too wide for the Violet Dancer.

I checked the field guide and
I checked the field guide and you are right. It is throughout the state and that is the species peak time here. Now that I compare the pictures I can see the difference. I went for the most common. Blue-tipped has a status of S3S4 in NJ so it's a little less common.
Thanks!
