Diagnostic gold spot on thorax obliquely visible
This is a male of Phasia aurulans, see remarks under "Identification" on the info page and compare with this image from Denmark.

P. aurulans is holarctic and is recorded from BC (wish it made it down to CA :-).

The abdomen can vary in regards to the amount and patterning of orangish-gold and vestiture. Sun & Marshall(1) give body length range as 7-9mm...close to your stated size of 1.0cm.
