That was probably written
before they found Corythucha confraterna in CA, but I think you should be OK based on range.

Yes, you are right, the range is one way to go sometimes. The differences among these two species are very subtle, but C. ciliata is basically white with only two dark markings on the wings, C. confraterna, on the other hand, has the median carina of the hood darken and some veins on the wings can be slightly darkened apically. Also, if you could measure it with precision, C. ciliata is approx. 3.7 mm compared to the smaller size of C. confraterna, 3.00mm
