Anisodactylus melanopus - male

Anisodactylus melanopus - Male
Horticulture Park, Tippecanoe County, Indiana, USA
April 9, 2008
Size: 11.5 mm
Characters: apical spurs of front tibiae widened basally but not trifid; elongate hind tarsi; hind angles of pronotum angulate, sides not sinuate; elytra shiny, iridescent; two setigerous punctures each side of clypeus; deplanation of pronotum clearly extended to front angles.

Very similar to A. agricola, but the double setigerous punctures on the clypeus, more parallel-sided elytra, and well developed lateral deplanation of the pronotum will separate.

Update: Specimen donated to Peter Messer (PWMC), 2023.
