New Port Richey, Pasco County, Florida, USA

Size: 25mm approx
The closest I could find is a Mammoth wasp but this is Florida not Italy

thanks
Thanks guys, if I had realized the common names I would not have bothered you

No problem at all!
Very happy to help, Sam. Sorry if my post was a bit robotic. I've been trying to catch up with all the wasp images that have been posted over the past few months.

I'll update the Scoliidae guide page with those common names. Mammoth wasp is definitely a European name and rarely used in the Americas. Scarab hawk/hunter isn't often used.

Keep the wasp photos coming!

Campsomeris quadrimaculata, female
Mammoth wasps/flower wasps/scarab hunters/scarab hawks = Scoliidae

Moved from ID Request.
