I do ESRM research at CSUCI and this one has me stumped. The more specific the identification the better but I am not even sure of its order. It seems to have mandibles, but no obvious outer shell to make it a Coleoptera for sure. Picture 1/2

do you have a photo of the head?
This looks like genus Coccinella or Hippodamia, but it's an early instar, and my larval key only handles 4th (final) instars. I might be able to get it to genus with a close look at the front of the head.
