Berlese sample 1 - Hoplothrips

Berlese sample 1 - Hoplothrips
Wissahickon Park, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, USA
November 7, 2011
Size: ~1mm
Found in a Berlese sample of leaf litter next to a rotten log. The raptorial forelegs are cool and I'm baffled as to what this could be.

awesome!
Thanks Vassili! Yeah, these are amazingly cool. Lots of collembolans and mites in the sample so I'm guessing this guy was hunting them.

Probably hoplothrips
I'm no expert but the majority of the thrips I've been capturing in my litter samples are some species of the Hoplothrips genus. This looks very similar.
