What's that??? Eggs??? -

Hello all,
Here are 2 structures I found in June 2010 in my Malus (location Quebec, Canada, near Vermont). Are they eggs??? I kept them one full month but nothing happened...

yea, they look like eggs from
yea, they look like eggs from a giant silk moth, in the family Saturniidae as mentioned above. many female moths in this family will lay them even if they arent fertile just because they carry so many, its easier for them to get rid of a few here and there.
you can tell over time if they arent fertile if the eggs eventually concave in, as shown in the photo above also.

If nothing has happened after a month
the eggs probably aren't fertile. Polyphemus females (along with other Saturnidae) will lay eggs whether they have mated or not. If they haven't, the eggs won't be fertile and they won't hatch.
