I will definitely have to find a few more of these and take a few different viewpoint shots of them for the guide.

Moved from Microlarinus.

BugGuide's first?
hard to believe; this species was quite common in Phoenix (where, unfortunately puncture vine is too--the bane of us cyclists and triathletes!).

ID
Microlarinus lareynii (Duval) Introduced biological control agent against Tribulus terrestis, puncture vine.

thanks again, Charlie

Microlarinus sp. --det. R.S. Anderson
[boy did i screw up this one... =v=]
Moved from Broad-nosed Weevils.

I'm with you..
I was thinking broad-nosed weevil as well..... Such an unusal and weird looking little guy.

thank you so much for sharing this, Chris
indeed, a very nice, distinctive weevil -- probably a new genus for the guide; an expert should recognize it, i'll show the image around. Entiminae are especially diverse in the west, and we still miss about 40[!] native NA genera in the guide (and a few adventive) in that subfamily alone.
keep them coming!

Moved from ID Request.

looks like
that cool dude looks like a dinosaur..

Entiminae...
It's one of the Broad-nosed Weevils, other experts will most likely take it further down to species. Welcome to Bug Guide...nice photos too.
