Beetle larvae? - Chrysomela scripta

Beetle larvae? - Chrysomela scripta
Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, Collier County, Florida, USA
June 10, 2006
Perhaps some sort of leaf beetle?

Yes
They look like the larvae of some kind of Lady bug.

yes
But they're eating leaves. Are there any herbivorous ladybird beetles?

Leaf beetle, I think
the shape reminds me of these (probably not the same species or even genus):

But, interestingly, there is a subfamily of Ladybird beetles that feeds on plants, according to this UF site - the Epilachninae.

Thanks Hannah
Thanks for putting me on the right track, I found another species in that genus that looks spot-on: Chrysomela scripta. Page: http://bugguide.net/node/view/9538/bgimage. I'm going to go ahead and move it there.
