Harris Checkerspot? -
Chlosyne palla
Buckhorn Road, near Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado, USA
July 10, 2005
I'm not sure what this is, partly because the wings are so ragged. Can anyone verify?

It is Chlosyne palla
Very similar and closely related to Harris Checkerspot, but the pattern above is slightly different, and they occur in different regions.
Moved from
Checkerspots
.

Moved--not Harris Checkerspot
Moved from
Harris's Checkerspot
. This is not a Harris Checkerspot. It appears to be similar to a "Variable Checkerspot", also called the "Chalcedon Checkerspot",
Euphydryas chalcedona
. I'm not well-versed in this group, so I have moved it to the appropriate genus level.
