Placement
How did you rule out the Brown Lacewing I showed as possible? Just wondering, I can never tell them apart and often get it wrong.

Apparently
I can't, either.

Info page
says "The yellow v-shaped mark on the mesothorax is diagnostic".

Yep
Bug-eyes and "neck" different from lacewing

But then, maybe I'm thinking too hard

Maybe in or near
Hemerobiiformia??? But I'm not sure, you may be right.
vs.

S. occidentalis would be my guess, too
3 other spp. occurring in AL can be ruled out, it seems

I think
it is good based on the info page.
