unknown spider... looks similar to a wolf or grass spider, but i dont think its either. - Zoropsis spinimana
California, USA
November 26, 2011
Size: around 1.5in
it crawled out of something that was being stored outside.

im thinking it may be a wolf spider, but honestly, i have no idea. it is rather furry, has the double striped pattern, but is not well defined.

probably not hobo, since the legs are striped, and i believe hobo spiders legs are solid (unless im wrong... am i)

it doesnt seem to be acting aggressive.

the strange thing about it is, it seems to have rather large fangs, and they are jet black. ive never seen a spider with jet black fangs before.

also, sorry for the crappy picture. i seriously need to upgrade to a dslr, because my compact's macro setting has a terrible focus range.

Are you in the San Francisco Bay Area? This looks very much like a False Wolf Spider, Zoropsis spinimana (family Zoropsidae). They were introduced from the Mediterranean region a few years ago and have spread quickly. The arachnologists at the California Academy of Sciences are studying the spread of the large but harmless spider and would certainly appreciate you specimen if you still have it.

I possibly have two of them as pets currently. I think they are what you are talking about but I live in Oklahoma. I thought they were wolf spiders at first but I am not sure. The two look different from each other
and I can post pictures tomorrow after school.
