Large brown spider, Giant House Spider I think. -

Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Size: about 5cm tip to tip
I was thinking its a Giant House Spider (Tegenaria duellica). Spotted outside underneath my porch

Do you remember ...
what the source was for the North American range of
E. atrica
? I had difficulty tracking it down a while back when I edited the genus info. page and someone just asked me about it.

. It certainly does look like Tegenaria. We call the Giant House Spider - Tegenaria gigantea. You can see the info page for an explanation. Because of range I don't think that species is possible here. I think this one could actually be T. atrica.
