I found this egg cluster on a leaf of my orange tree, I picked the leaf and put it in tupperware until it hatched, and these babies came out.

These are caterpillars of some kind of month in the superfamily Noctuoidea. It's probably safe to say they're not "friends" of your orange tree, but they may or may not cause substantial damage.
