Nystalea ebalea: ID provided by David Wagner

The status of Nystalea eutalanta as a valid species has gone back and forth. Currently examples of N. ebalea in FL are treated as N. eutalanta. However, BOLD data tells a different story. FL specimens barcode as N. ebalea with the exception of one specimen which may or may not be true N. eutalanta. Per Lafontaine and Schmidt, pers. comm. 7/5/2017, more work needs to be done. I understand that the next MONA fascicle will continue the status quo but that could change.

Identified by David Wagner or from the book?
What is the plant you found it on?
Thanks

ID
Maury,

He gave me the ID personally via email. I sent him a copy of the photo. The plant is a Poison Wood (metopium toxiferum). One of these days I need to acquire some of David's books.

Nystalea eutalanta?
Nystalea ebalea is not listed by Lafontaine and Schmidt. Was N. eutalanta considered? The two are shown as each others closest relatives at BOLD. The adults are nearly identical. Would it be possible to get an update on this from David Wagner?

Also, may we have permission to use this image at MPG?

what was the host plant?
Thanks

Image Location
