Gastrophysa polygoni perhaps.
One of the reasons I take pictures is that I just don't observe well. For instance, is she ovipositing? On dead wood?

Yes, but..
is she laying an egg or going to the bathroom? Or can one tell?

 
can't tell...
...although the situation seems to rule oviposition out
she has to be sick & tired of the load, that's for sure
