abdominal apex, precedes wing apex = male
Jason, thanks for your quick response! You may want to compare the ventral abdomen image on my female, below. I already added a link to this image.
Can you please verify that your male wasp has 7 sternites? I'm not sure that I'm counting them correctly. Also, please label all four images as male, since you are 100% positive of that fact.

If you saved this specimen, you may consider adding some brightly lit close-ups of the sternites, because the shapes of them might help you to narrow down the possible species that are found in our area.
I will let you know if I find out anything more that may help you.
