Small Gray Beetle on Mesquite flowers -
Trichochrous varius
Zapata Wash, NE of Mammoth, Pinal County, Arizona, USA
May 21, 2011
Size: approx 2-3 mm
Large groups of these on velvet mesquite flowers, some appeared mostly gray without strips

Sorry, this is Trichochrous (not Listrus). The two genera were common on flowers in AZ (sometimes at the same time on the same flower). I had a momentary brain-fart and picked the wrong name :).

It's great to get the ID, this genus has other photos very similar to this specimen. Thank you for all of your help - it really makes looking for insects and seeing and learning about their world - and ours - very exciting.
