Araneus bicentenarius - Female
Myrtle Beach, Horry County, South Carolina, USA
June 26, 2006
Found in a remote wetland area approx. 8:30 in the morning. The web was approx. 6'x 5' elliptical. The spider itself was found in a cocoon of leaves (5"long 2 1/1" in Dia.)with a heavy spider silk liner. No prey was in the web at the time.

Araneus bicentenarius
Looks like Araneus bicentenarius, Giant Lichen Orb Weaver. Hope this helps :-)
