Antlike Flower Beetle - Anthicus melancholicus

Antlike Flower Beetle - Anthicus melancholicus
Edmundston, Madawaska County, New Brunswick, Canada
Size: 2,8mm

Moved
Moved from Anthicus cervinus.

Anthicus melancholicus
would be my placement. Smaller than cervinus/ephippium, entire body dark (rare if never for those two), anterior pronotal angles more distinct (clearly rounded for cervinus), setae of even length and gradually curved over elytra (cervinus short and strongly curved on anterior half of elytra), a northern species --> melancholicus. The lighting emphasizes sculpture enough to be a bit misleading, but with a softer light the placement would be more obvious.

Moved
Moved from Anthicus ephippium.

Anthicus cervinus LaFerté-Sénectère
No, this is not Anthicus ephippiatumLaFerté-Sénectère which does not occur in our region and has a different dorsal pattern. This is a dark example of the relatively common Anthicus cervinus LaFerté-Sénectère.
