Was originally thinking narrow-waisted bark beetle, but now leaning towards tenebrionid. Help would be appreciated. Thanks

always a pleasure to see this fine bug
the beetle looks weird and puzzling, and Salpingidae & Pythidae used to be treated as the same family for a long time, so your guess was really quite good; including tenebs in the differential as a last resort option is also a good idea wherever one is is not sure about family: based on my own experience, in nine cases out of ten when family placement is not at all obvious, your 'mystery beetle' turns out to be a teneb.
so i really think you did great with this one.
