Red cone galls on basswood? - Eriophyes tiliae

Red cone galls on basswood? - Eriophyes tiliae
Fredericton, York County, New Brunswick, Canada
June 10, 2010
Size: 5mm
This resembles the galls of Schizomyia viticola, which infests grape. This bush is not a grape but resembles basswood. It grows in my backyard, poking out from under the spruce hedge that lines our property. The bush always has a few gall present on some of the leaves.
