Mycetophilidae: Epicypta
This is the pupal cocoon found in members of the genus
Epicypta
. I assume the hole is to allow the adult to emerge (since they have no mandibles to chew their way out). Another picture of a similar beastie can be found here:

The cocoon/cell
also seems more like something a beetle larva would construct. I wonder what that hole in the end means...

I wonder if that black knob on the tail of the pupa was filling that hole.
