Identification
Larval Therevidae have 20 apparent segments (vs. about half as many in typical insect larvae). Scenopinidae does too (the families are closely related). Therevidae has shorter antennae and abdominal hairs and the metacephalic rod (a dark internal structure behind the head) is expanded at its tip.
