Tachyporus species
This could be any one of a number of
Tachyporus
species. To identify
Tachyporus nitidulus
(Fabricius) one needs to see the apical maxillary palpomere. There are 16 species of
Tachyporus
recorded in New Brunswick. In general one needs to have a very detailed view of the small dark setae on the elytra (their number and arrangement) since the pattern of these is highly characteristic.
