Variegated Meadowhawk - Sympetrum corruptum - Male
St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, Wakulla County, Florida, USA
December 18, 2011
Shot with a point-and-shoot camera while out on a long hike with scope / tripod birding for ducks. General habitat includes coastal marshes, islands, tidal creeks and estuaries. The area is approximately 25 miles south of Tallahassee. This individual was on the Stony Bayou fresh water / brackish water impoundment.

First for Florida on BG: This species is known to be a "wanderer" and is fairly rare in the Southeastern US.
