Rove Beetle - Tachinus basalis

Rove Beetle - Tachinus basalis
Edmundston, Madawaska County, New Brunswick, Canada
September 25, 2011
Size: 6mm
is this Tachinus basalis?

Moved
Moved from Tachinus.

Tachinus basalis Erichson
Correct, this is Tachinus basalis Erichson. The size, colouration, and - most importantly - the fact that abdominal segments 4-8 all have long, projecting, lateral setae sets this apart from other similar species.
