Moved, per Steury & Steiner (2018)
According to this paper in this year's MD Entomologist, D. fumiganus is a strict endemic of the southern Appalachians, and can't be separated from D. punctatus by color characters of the elytra. They say the bulging eyes of males distinguish D. fumiganus.

Moved from Dichelotarsus fumiganus.

Moved from Podabrus punctatus.

Podabrus fumiganus Green
Very close, but not quite! This is actually a specimen of Podabrus fumiganus Green. From the dorsal vantage in this photograph you can just see the edges of the pale lateral elytral margins. Podabrus punctatus LeConte is very similar, however the elytra are entirely black. From a lateral perspective the difference is very apparent. Both species are found in the Maritime Provinces of Canada.
