caterpillar - Idia rotundalis

caterpillar - Idia rotundalis
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
December 30, 2011
Size: 7mm
Found in a wasp nest that was inside a bird box.

OK, we'll leave Corey a note, but meanwhile
how about this one?? :)

This looks like a mature caterpillar
ready to pupate. Idia rotundalis has mature caterpillars from spring into summer, and thisn is in the fall. So I'm wondering if this is Idia americalis with mature caterpillars year round.

Here's another one for you to stare at!

Maybe the same
but my eyes hurt from trying to get it in focus.

See what you think of
this one

Looks like Idia rotundalis to me
A few of the look alikes can be eliminated by the lack of a dorsal stripe. And I. americalis doesn't show the dark thorax behind the head.

Moved
Moved from Butterflies and Moths.
Looks good, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

rotundalis is the same one
we were eyeballin'!

Idia? Renia?
Wonder what the differences are?

I like Rotund Idia
The dark thoracic shield matches well, plus the northern range listed for the Chocolate Renia is along the SE coast. I'm in north central Massachusetts.
