Black Ant with beetle prey - Camponotus
Big Basin Redwoods State Park, Ocean View Lookout, Santa Cruz County, California, USA

I'd say this was a medium to large ant for my area. The beetle prey, I don't recognize the color of the wings from any of my other photos.
This is in a Chaparral area with Knobcone Pine (as in the dead log this was photoed on).
