H. grandis - Helophorus grandis

H. grandis - Helophorus grandis
7 mi S of Harbor Beach, Huron County, Michigan, USA
April 9, 2011
Size: ~7 mm
I used (1) to key this specimen to Helophorus grandis. A factor for this species is its size. No other member of the genus reaches 7 mm according to Downie and Arnett. The next one would be H. oblongus which can reach up to 6.3 mm but is more piceous in color.

Does anyone have any experience with this genus?
