Hampton, Rockingham Seacoast County, New Hampshire, USA
June 24, 2006
Size: .5 - .75"
Found this on my sliding glass doors that face the beach. I was struck by the bright green coloring. It was just sitting there.

Stratiomyidae
This is a Soldier fly, very likely Odontomyia cincta, a female. The larvae are aquatic.
