Earwig? - Forficula auricularia - male

Earwig? - Forficula auricularia - Male
Logy Bay, Northeast Avalon, Newfoundland/Labrador, Canada
June 29, 2006
Size: 8mm Body Length
Is this an earwig? I found it mid-afternoon crawling across the gravel that I had put down as the foundation of a retaining wall in our backyard. I've checked the guide pages but I'm still only 'guessing' at earwig. Help with an ID will be appreciated.
